Zurich Film Festival 21

23 September - 3 October 2020

We are very pleased to be the official hotel partner of the festival.

The Zurich Film Festival from September 23 - October 4, 2019 offers a platform for the most promising filmmakers from around the globe.

First held in October 2005, it firmly established itself on the national and international festival scene within a very short period of time. The aim of the Zurich Film Festival is to offer larger audiences an insight into the work of young, emerging filmmakers from all over the world and to promote the exchange of ideas between established filmmakers, creative new talent and the public.

Prizes and Competitions

In three international competitions (“International Feature”, “International Documentary Film”, and “Focus Switzerland, Germany, Austria”), young filmmakers compete for the main prize, the Golden Eye. As well as the competition, the latest films by renowned filmmakers are presented as exclusive Gala Premieres and Special Screenings. Furthermore, the “New World View” section focuses on contemporary film from regions with up-and-coming film industries. The guest countries to date have been Russia (2007), Israel (2008), Argentina (2009), Australia (2010), Iran (2015) and Mexico (2016). In addition, film directors and actors are honored for their exceptional achievements with various awards.

Locations

The hub of the festival activity is Zurich’s Sechseläutenplatz, situated in the heart of the city and on the shore of Lake Zurich. The festival cinemas, corso and Le Paris, the Festival Centre and the ZFF Night Lounge are also located here. Additional Festival movie theaters, Arena and Filmpodium, are just a few minutes away.

Events

Numerous ancillary events and parties give filmmakers and movie enthusiasts the opportunity to discuss what they have seen and bring an exciting movie day to an end amidst a relaxed ambiance.

For Kids

Laugh, discover, empathize, immerse yourself in images, share in the action, contemplate, understand, get excited. The “ZFF for Kids” series presents first-rate children’s and family movies from all over the world. In addition, at the majority of the movie presentations, members of the public also have the opportunity to meet the filmmakers in person. Tickets for the ZFF children’s movies can be purchased at a special price of CHF 9. All films are open to children aged six years and over. It is generally recommended that children are accompanied by an adult.
